Dan McGettigan
Dan has been a Nelson Dental Centre partner since graduating BDS, Otago in 1975.
Dentistry is more of a passion than a job for Dan, where the challenge of providing excellent dentistry at minimum discomfort is a priority. Embracing new technology such as Cerec and Laser has added to patient comfort levels.
Married to Joan, they have four children who are now young adults. Interests outside dentistry include golf, music, wind surfing and chilling out in Golden Bay.
Mary Towers
Mary graduated BDS, Otago, in 1978. She came to Nelson in 1983 to do a full time weaving course and ended up continuing her profession at the Nelson Dental Centre. Weaving is on hold for now, but Mary loves fabric and fibre craft. She still sews and embroiders, and will weave again when she gets the time. She also enjoys gardening and the outdoors and is busy parenting teenagers.
Mary is passionate about her job and is also involved in Dental Politics and Health and Disciplinary Commission at a national level.
Kate Bidwill
Kate worked in Christcurch Hospital's Dental Department for two and a half years after graduating from Otago in 1978, and has worked in general practice in Nelson and the UK since then. Kate enjoy all aspects of dentistry and has managed to mix the roles of mother and dentist by job-sharing with Mary Towers.
Kate is married to Hamish and they have two children: Kitty and Paddy. They enjoy spending time in Golden Bay, walking, skiing, and travelling.
Alex Munro
Alex graduated BDS, Otago in 1995 and has a wide experience in dentistry. During his career in New Zealand and the UK Alex has built strong skills in general dentistry and is experienced with dental implants, endodontics, cosmetic dentistry and prevention of dental disease. He arrived at Nelson Dental Centre in 2004 and became a partner in 2006.
When not at work, Alex will be found mountain biking, sailing or spending time with his wife Melissa and young family.
Janette Wilcox
Janette graduated from Guys Hospital London 1987. Since then she has worked in full time practice in the UK in general practice and at a top security prison, successfully combining this with raising her two daughters, Josie and Polly.
She emigrated to New Zealand in January 2004 and became a partner at Nelson Dental in April 2007. She has a passion for all aspects of dentistry. Janette is past President of the local branch of the New Zealand Dental Association.
Janette adores outdoor activities and when not in the surgery you will find her tramping, kayaking, running and bike riding.
Roberta Prestige
Roberta is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She has been working with the Nelson Dental Centre since 1993 and enjoys working with a wide age range of people and the differing challenges each person presents for achieving and maintaining their Dental Health.
Roberta has a strong interest in the preventive care aspects of tooth decay, gum and periodontal health and, through working with our dentists, provides a comprehensive dental service for all ages.
She is married with three young adult daughters.
